Close to Home, by Joan Tavolott

Yesterday I went out twice to paint portraits. I belong to several local art groups and on Tuesday there is one group that meets in the morning and a second that meets in the evening. Samantha posed for us last nigh. She was a really sweet, cute teenager, the daughter of one of the artists. And if it hadn't been hard enough to do Mary with her glasses, Samantha was wearing hers too. lol

  1. I love her and what a sweetie posing for you! I imagine it's fun to see all the different interpretations of yourself! Good job!

  3. Giggles, she made $30 for sitting 2 hours and several people gave her their finished drawings. Thanks.

    Lynn - Thanks so much!

  4. She is cute, isn't she? I don't like drawing glasses, especially from the front, because of the symmetrical thing. Yours looks great! I like the way you showed reflection in the glass.I am jealous of all your local art groups!

  5. Melisa, thanks! I am really lucky to have several local groups to sketch and paint with. I used to do all my art solo and now it is so much more fun. It is hard to get the two lenses the same size and shape. lol

  6. It is a great portrait, Joan! I would want to have a group too for portait painting!! In fact I go to a group with a model and draw the model first with coal in quick sketches and then more thorough (I can show you if Lynn alows..The model is naked.)

  8. Thanks Sirkka and Ann. I haven't done a life drawing session in a long time. I know there are several places that do them here, but I haven't found the time to go.
