Work Life, Persevering by Elisa Choi

I saw him again on my way to work and had to quickly sketched him. He lived across from the bus stop, carrying his blue drawstring knapsack along with a belt bag and would slowly inch his way accompanied by his two four-legged canes. He inspires me. At his old age he still goes to work despite his condition. He always entered last in the bus and would go down at the first stop. I have no idea what his work is. I wonder if he experiences any pain or discomfort while walking…

  2. Lovely sketch and observation of this gent. Wonder what he would think to find out he is now famous :-)

  3. Nice sketch...well done. Always feel badly for people whose health isn't good or that are elderly that would like to retire, but can't afford to. But, on the other hand, I do love to see people keep working as long as they want to.

  4. Hi Elisa! Great story with the sketch. Where I live now is close to the Catholic Church's free dinner for anyone every day of the week. Your thoughts about this man are along the same as mine watching the people going to dinner every day. I never thought of sketching people. Now I would like to. You inspired me, thank you! Rasz #60

  5. I loved the story behind your painting. I just spent a week with my darling Grandma Gladys. She is such an inspiration. Old age is NOT for cowards. Old folks who keep on going are brave and dear.

  7. Great sketch. Nice to see him I'm sure. I wish my mother would brave it. She walks to the mail box.
