  1. Good sketch, both the dog and the car. I find cars difficult to draw so I admire your skill.
Wait a minute, is he going to fasten his seatbelt when dad comes and drives off?

  3. You've really captured that dog of yours. You should do a cartoon series for the newspaper! :)

  4. Oh love both. your captures. I agree like Lisa said. You would be a great cartoonist for a newspaper. Have you ever inquired.

You are so talented. You just need to go forth. When my son wanted to get a job. after University. He was told he had to sell himself as well as his work. That is the key. In the working world . Be assertive. My son was rather shy not like me. Loud and too assertive at times.

Apply both self and his work. That is how he is still in the art industry at 50 to-day. Never hurts to try . How do you know if if you don't try.

Your work is so beautiful Ann. I applaud you.

  5. Hi Ann. I agree about a cartoon series and yes your work is good. William looks so big and happy sitting in that car. He is going bye-bye and boy do they love going bye-bye.

Long ago I wrote a weekly column for a neighborhood newspaper in San Jose called the "Sun" news. I was going to junior college at the time with journalism classes and loved to write. I wanted to report of different events, things going on in my neighborhood. I was shy and pretty much kept to myself. To make a long story short.....I called the editor and explained what I wanted to do and if he was interested. To my surprise, he kept quiet for a few seconds and then said..."Sure, why don't you send me a piece and I'll let you know what I think." Hmmmm, I thought...what does he mean "a piece." tee hee. Of course I didn't know then that he wanted to read my writings. hahahaha. Anyway, again to make a long story short, I typed up a piece (typewriter), made copies and mailed to the editor. A couple days later he called me and said he couldn't pay much but 1 column a week would be fine. He wanted a Wednesday column. Can you believe it!! I was floating on the moon and jumping star to star.

So, find a small newspaper in your area, pick up the phone, speak to the editor and tell him you'd like a spot in the cartoon section. You'll be a rising star!! Go for it! If not, well at least we and tens of thousands on the Internet will read about sweet William. Great sketch and hello to Mr. William.

    1. Thanks so much Gloria, telling us about your step into journalism....I can well see how pleased you must have been. I will take a look in my area to see if there is a small newspaper that might be right for these sketches. Of course, something I have always said (and know full well) ...I am no writer, it would need to rely solely on sketches and my 'short' sentences that go with them. So for now, many thanks for taking the time and trouble to tell me about this avenue, I really appreciate it.....ann:-)

  6. He looks like he is waiting so patiently. You could make a book out of all the sketches you've done of him. This is great!

  8. I think your series should be called "In the Life of a Dog!" So fun. Love, love the blue of the car in this one, Ann. And Williams' expressions are always priceless!
