Daily Life, 2 comic scenes, by Elaine (jaguarish)

For fun I have been making up a cartoon of sorts, using dry erase markers on the glass shower screen.  Each box represents something that happened that day.  Here are the ones for yesterday -- the school disco -- and the day before -- my son leaping into the room while I was still asleep, wanting me to read a book to him.  Sorry for the blurriness -- my camera couldn't seem to figure out what to focus on because of the clear glass!

  1. Well now, this is a novel way of drawing...never thought of this before. I love your drawings - cartoons of your day.

  2. Never heard of this - what are dry markers? And hopefully they come off when you clean!
The cartoons make me laugh, and remember the joys of having bouncy youngsters around when you want to sleep. I keep wondering what the 'sausage' outfit in the bottom corner is, but it looks like somebody is having fun. Great post.

  3. Thanks! It's one of the few ways I seem able to draw from my imagination. Jez, dry erase is another name for whiteboard markers. The kids and I love drawing on mirrors and glass with them. I would not recommend using them on a fridge like we used to, as some colors do stain the white finish. :)

    1. Thanks Elaine, always interesting to see different approaches and different materials. I can see how they would work, just like on a whiteboard.

  4. What a fun idea! I wouldn't try it here. My hubby keeps grabbing a permanent sharpie to write on the dry erase board, even though the dry erase marker is clamped riight to the board! I've gone through a lot of boards. Was the disco a costume party? Love these sketches!

    1. Maybe you should hide the permanent markers Melisa! Ha ha! Yes the kids dressed in theme "wild and wacky," and there were prizes for dancing and costumes. My son wore assorted bits from his dress up box so he is the Super Elvis Stormtrooper. The sausage costume was a sparkly pink number! Lots of kids wore those fashionable pajama onesies, hence the Pikachu hip hop dancer in the middle.

  11. Thanks everyone, it's fun getting the kids involved too in discussing what's to be drawn. It is a good exercise in composition, what to put in or leave out, and how to simplify the image and not get bogged down in detail (detail, my nemesis!)
