Time Away from Home, Canandaigua Lake by Margaret Coote

This is "away from home" on two levels - last night I went to visit my friends at their house at the edge of Canandaigua Lake, and they had been in Switzerland and brought me some water-soluble crayons from the Caran d'Ache store in Geneva! So I sat down and did this quick sketch of the view from their dining/living room. It was a set of spring colors, so the tree is purple  :)  (I'm not saying I wouldn't have made it purple anyway…)

The lake is so beautiful. The middle of it is still frozen, but the edges are melting.

  7. It was sweet to think of you when your friends were abroad. They are good friends! I absolutly love the purple tree. Especially the birches look purple in the spring in a certain light when there is snow still.

  8. The effect is soft and lovely, and what a happy purple tree. The Caran D'Ache are my husband's favourite pencils. I keep hoping he will buy me some - I can't let myself buy them when I have so many sets, many not to my taste at all. Ah well, we have to try all sorts of mediums to find what works best for us. I am sure you will love them.
