Holidays or Vacation, "Drawing in Doolin" Lynn Cohen
I don't recall if I posted this drawing here before or not, but it's from our recent (Sept-Oct) trip to Ireland. That's me drawing while sitting on the stone wall. Loved the time we spent abroad. And that was one once of a life time HOLIDAY!

Vacations and Holidays, People At the Beach, Penny Lee StewArt
Vacations At the Beach (Imagined)
Preliminary sketches in my 4x6 notebook. . .
.. . eventually turn into colorful acrylics painted on wooden 2x3 inch Artomat blocks. I am making 100 of these right now, no two alike. Last year I made 300 of them. I do two kinds, Painted Posies and Painted People.
The vacations theme gave me a whole new set of ideas for my little people. I guess these would also work for the next topic . . .

Vacations and Holidays - Fisherman's Wharf by Fran
Once upon a time when we were younger, we took an anniversary trip to San Francisco and northern California. It was a wonderful trip and I wish I could relive the trip. So much is wasted on the young. I would be so much more appreciative now. At the time I was relishing the rest and time away from the kids while worrying about them and missing them at the same time. Now I could devote my total attention to the wonders of California.
When in San Francisco one must always go to Fisherman's Wharf. Seeing the huge brown seals that lounged on the floating decks which were anchored in the bay was quite an experience for one who had never seen anything more exciting than a pelican roosting on the docks of Texas bays.
This watercolor ATC card was made from one of my photographs. For the smaller space, I only drew five of the twenty or so seals that were in the photograph. I have heard that for some mysterious reason the seals have left the harbor. I do not know if this is true. It is just one of the mysterious things that we hear about in our changing global environment. I hope that they have returned by now.

Time Away from Home; Vacation and Holidays; Guia Fortress by Elisa Choi
pen and watercolor
We climbed the Guia Hill to reach the Guia Fortress where we saw this chapel and lighthouse. According to Wikipedia, Guia Fortress is a historical military fort, chapel, and lighthouse complex in the St. Lazarus Parish. These were constructed after an unsuccessful attempt by the Netherlands to capture Macau from Portugal.
It's a good thing that the weather was cold at that time and we didn't sweat a bit. We climbed lots of stairs and walk and walk and walk on steep roads and even some rocky surfaces. There were plenty of trees and the view above is wonderful. This is quite a historical feature. :)

Time Away from Home, Vacation and Holidays "The Gondola" by Elisa Choi
sketched from a photo; pen and paint
During our family's trip to Macau we visited The Venetian. It is a hotel with casino and it is very famous. Of course since this is inspired by Italy they have the gondola. You have to pay quite a huge amount to be able to ride this. The guy will entertain you with his good singing voice while you are cruising slowly with your special someone. Quite romantic don't you think.
