But, here goes.

My life has become complicated through the years due to illness and other medical issues, but I think I am finally able to work for limited periods of time at my laptop computer sitting in my recliner. At 81, I have given myself permission to classify myself as a senior of OLD AGE. I am stuck here in the old farmhouse, and I need to keep myself busy. I've been back working at my genealogy on a daily basis, but now I am ready to add my artwork and my picture taking. The iPhone is my only camera other than my little pink Canon from years ago. I gave my eldest son my Canon Rebel and all my wonderful lens because I couldn't handle the weight of it all around my neck. I was sad to see it go, but I am so happy it has a good home.

OK. I'm gonna sign off, and see if I have created my first post of 2020. I'm so happy to be alive, poking fun at myself, and with no COVID in the family.

Hugs to all my old friends should you see this.

Genie

geniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17475608100401444065noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6402833299860787322.post-46594898147008440702017-12-01T12:35:00.000-08:002017-12-01T12:36:55.390-08:00December is here!

December is here - a new month and the last one of 2017.

Let's share the highlights of our year, what we love, what we cherish, what we are wishing for, for now and for the year ahead.

Let's have lots of sharing - as a way to get to know one another.

And decisions need to be made - about where this challenge blog is to go and what everyone expects from it.
I have had little response to what themes could be for 2018 or if there is really much interest in moving forward.
Let me know please - in the comments or to my email address.Beverley Bairdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973073253078139054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6402833299860787322.post-89192114186179196702017-11-03T09:56:00.000-07:002017-11-03T09:56:07.206-07:00A few People and their Conversations.
Hard to believe - but Hallowe'en is over and we have now started November.

November's theme is "People and their Imaginary Conversations".
(This was suggested by Elaine Pang and Lynn Cohen)

If you love cartoons this could be the perfect theme. Politics now just asks for cartoons!
If you want to practice faces, it works as well.

I'd love to see many of you taking part.
We seem to be almost at a standstill - any suggestions for improving turnout??

It will be October 1st tomorrow - hard to believe how quickly September (and summer!) has sped by.
Now it is fall, with new holidays and activities to enjoy.
October's theme is: Camping/Hiking, as suggested by Elaine Pang.

What have you observed while camping or hiking?
I hope the theme inspires you and that you interpret it and make it your own.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:
You might:

*Focus on fall foliage during a hike.

*Remember a favourite place you visited while camping or hiking.

*Imagine a place you'd like to take a hike.

Have fun, enjoy the theme and be sure to share!Beverley Bairdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973073253078139054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6402833299860787322.post-72944947878851557972017-08-31T16:30:00.001-07:002017-08-31T16:32:24.211-07:00New September theme

Today marks the end of August and summer vacation for children. Has the past few months ever sped by.
Our new theme for September is "Festivals and Markets"
What festivals or markets have you attended?

Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration:

*what was your favourite festival as a child?

*do you have outdoor markets in your city?

*check your town's website and look for fall festivals. have some fun visiting.

*Check out a book from the library about other festivals around the world.

As always, interpret this theme as you wish. The most important thing is to have fun and create what makes you happy. Lets all take part this month! Beverley Bairdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973073253078139054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6402833299860787322.post-32618109984589637232017-08-10T13:21:00.003-07:002017-08-10T13:21:34.261-07:00SOMETHING UNUSUAL, jean BernickEvery summer I set my amaryllis out in the flower bed until fall. What a surprise when one had a bud. It has had 4 blossoms out of season. Is it confused?
I have no idea how she did that. But it is very Unusual and it amazed me. I cannot decide if I want to paint the original or the super colorful version. What do you think?
Hard to believe that August has just arrived. And with it - a brand new theme. (suggested by Elaine Pang)

This month our theme is Unusual Sights (or even sites).

What have you seen or discovered that could be considered unusual? Please share your unusual art!

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

* Share a favourite unusual sight/site.

* Share a favourite unusual object

* Share something unusual that you have imagined

* Share something unique, special, one-of-a-kind.Beverley Bairdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973073253078139054noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6402833299860787322.post-68739038252743030912017-07-28T08:12:00.003-07:002017-07-28T08:12:29.520-07:00Willow and Sunny, Jean BernickI just finished this colored pencil portrait of Shelties as a gift for a friend.
This topic is WIDE OPEN.

Any thing goes, so here is my 8x10 Crazy Bright Colored Calico Cat painting, done from a video on YouTube, on 140# hot press paper, varnished front and back. I love trying new styles and taking classes in art. Since discovering the awesome multitude of videos online FREE to watch and paint, I am now overwhelmed on what to do next! This one was FUN to paint. Really fun. He looks a little bit cranky to me. But I do love him. Of course, he is for sale on Ebay in my store.

Have any of you tried painting along with videos online?

A brand new month and for Canadians , it is Canada Day - the 150th. Lots of celebrating all over Canada.

July 4th will be Independence Day. Another day to celebrate

With a brand new month, comes a brand new theme and this one is suggested by Lynn Cohen:

Anything Goes!

What a wide range of choices. What will you share this month?
Will you try something new? Play with new supplies?

Here are a few ideas to get you started:
You might:

*Celebrate the July 1st or 4th holidays.

*use postcards, maps, photos or brochures to showcase a holiday you've taken.

*experiment with a new medium or tool

*Or, just play and have some fun.

No matter what you create - be sure to share your work.Beverley Bairdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973073253078139054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6402833299860787322.post-34945142253426138812017-06-02T17:49:00.001-07:002017-06-02T17:49:06.532-07:00Something I Use Every Day - My Pen Case by Joan Tavolott

I go out painting or sketching every day (with very few exceptions) so my pen case is something I use every day. I like having everything together where I can see it and use it easily. This has a back section that contains a water brush, pencil, eraser, mister, and a travel brush.

A brand new month - full of possibilities and a brand new theme to announce.

June's theme is "Something You Use Every Day", as suggested by Jean Bernick.

I hope the theme inspires you and that you interpret it and make it your own.

There are so many ways to interpret this theme. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
You might:
*Focus on your hand as I did - I use it every day for sure.
* Remember a favourite item you have used
* Focus on a favourite object you have inherited and still use.
*Open a cupboard and pull out a favourite item..
*Visit a thrift shop and discover a treasure in someone else's junk.

Whatever you choose to do this month, have fun. Please share your inspired artwork. Any medium can be used.Beverley Bairdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973073253078139054noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6402833299860787322.post-61099124486596918112017-05-17T19:40:00.001-07:002017-05-17T19:40:32.123-07:00Favourite (Old) Artwork

I've taken part in different challenges and they can be fun as well as a chance to try different techniques.
What challenges do you take part in??
I'm catching up here and doubling up with place where I live (last months theme) and old. Our home I drew a few years ago I've been living in since we purchased it in 1988, so some might think it is old. (this months theme).
Even older than that is ME, as seen in the selfie below. For some reason I must be tired because I refuse to sit upright. But that's okay. I think I old folks need more rest.
I've been looking through the vaults as it were, and came across a painting I did a while back. Thought it would be nice to give it the light of day here on the blog....

At the end of each month, I will announce the new theme for the following month.

May's theme is "Something Old", as suggested by Jean Bernick.

I hope the theme inspires you and that you interpret it and make it your own.

There are so many ways to interpret this theme. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
You might:
* Remember a favourite place.
* Focus on a favourite object you have inherited
*Visit a museum and share a favourite piece.
*Visit a thrift shop and discover a treasure in someone else's junk.
*Use old supplies in a new way.

Whatever you choose to do this month, have fun. Please share your inspired artwork. Any medium can be used.Beverley Bairdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973073253078139054noreply@blogger.com1
