A late post on the buildings theme... sorry but somehow I did not manage to get to do one until today! The planetarium is set in the beautiful surrounds of the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens. For these two sketches I had fun trying my fattest pen (Copic Ciao) with my biggest sketchbook (A3 size) to see what would happen. I really enjoyed working in such a big format! And because the paper is pretty low quality I didn't feel compelled to make a "precious" drawing but instead employed a very loose style.

Wow! great paintings of the planetarium Elaine :-)
ReplyDeletewow! You got the shape so perfectly --- I am amazed at the depth you can create with just a bit of crosshatching and line shading.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, Elaine - love the shapes and shadows! & is it Mt. Coot-tha? :)
ReplyDeleteLove how you captured the shape of the building. Lovely job on both of these!!!
