here's my photo of them from which I did the above painting...
The Isle of Wight is only a small island, but has a lot to offer. There is also fun to be had with the place names too. I remember postcards from years ago (I'm guessing they still sell these over there),
RYDE - Where you walk
FRESHWATER - You do not drink
NEEDLES - You cannot thread
NEWTOWN - That is old
NEWPORT - You cannot bottle
COWES - You do not milk
(okay I'm easily amused) lol.
Great painting of hysterical trees, Ann. How they do that? Love your art, love your sense of humor too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn...not sure how they did this. I think perhaps the trees are some way into the ground, hence they still stand up...but it was brilliant to see, such fun :-)
DeleteYour work is great! How weird these trees are and very interesting. Fun post Ann.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gloria....I couldn't believe my eyes actually when we first came across them :-)
DeleteA very interesting painting, I especially love the background. That is a very unusual thing to do with an old tree trunk...maybe they plan to put some hanging vines in the roots.
ReplyDeleteNow hanging vines, that would add to them wouldn't it. I used a mop brush for the background, it holds loads of paint and is loose too, so was very easy to paint.
DeleteGreat painting of the upside down trees.I love the blue surroundings in your painting. What an idea they had got!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sirkka, yes it was a Very different idea :-)
DeleteWhat a funny idea!!! Great sketch of it too.
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit quirky, but very novel :-)
DeleteWhat a fun place. Nice job on the trees. Lol love your sense of humor too. :)
ReplyDeletenever seen anything like that.. it's like an art installation no? I like your sketch and the words you shared are amusing hehehe ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been to the Isle of Wight a couple of times, but never seen these sculptures. Quite a strange piece of artwork for a hotel to put in its garden, but it makes a great sketch.
