Time Away From Home - Niagara - by Fran

This is a painting I made after our first visit to Niagara Falls.  Our oldest daughter lives in Buffalo and Niagara is just an hour away.  A wonderful experience and such a magnificent sight.  So much water and so impressive! A beautiful example of the awesomeness of nature.

    1. Thank you LL. I visited your site. I was very impressed with the "Mather-erpieces" series you wrote about. Anything that can make math more appealing is good.

  2. Beautiful painting, and a lovely reminder of one of the most marvellous holidays we've ever had. We took two helicopter flights over the falls, one straight after the other and took loads of shote - sadly the slides deteriorated over time to unviewable. Your painting really shows the power of the water as it thunders over the cliff edge and the sheer force of it. You've brought back many happy memories of that trip, thank you Fran.

    1. Thank you Sirkka. I have lived in Texas all my life where it is often very dry. I am always awed by the amount of water of the Niagara river, the falls and the Great Lakes. There is just so much.

  5. This is great Fran, water is so difficult to paint, but you have certainly achieved it :-)

  6. Niagara Falls is a place I've wanted to go, but haven't visited yet. Great job on the falls...you can feel the power and strength in the water the way you painted it.

  8. Yes, wow, Fran, you've really got it here! I've been there a couple times (I'm not too far, in Rochester) and am hankering to get back, soon. It is a remarkable place.
