My "garden" is more of an overgrown swamp right now. I sank into the ground with each step as I walked out back to snip a piece of jasmine. The front yard is a little better and I could reach the loropetalums bush from the doorway. I didn't want to bother looking for a vase so I just stuck the loropetalum branch in my water bottle from lunch. As much as I love flowers, I don't care much for gardening so whatever thrives here does so of it's own accord. I plant things and then tend to forget about them instead of watering and weeding.

For a "non-gardener gardener" you sure know their names and you sure do draw and paint them beautifully. I have a red orange jasmine vine on my back fence (not yet in bloom). The other one is new to me. Very pretty both! I was an ardent gardener for many years. But now after 26 years in this house it all grows wild and on it's own too. A lawn cutting "gardener" cuts it all back from me for a price every few years and it all comes back again in it's colorful glory. ;-).
ReplyDeleteLovely double page spread in your sketchbook. I love to see these colourful plants that are unknown to me here in UK.
ReplyDeleteThese are such sweet pages Melisa :-)
ReplyDeleteMelisa, what lovely blossoms from your yard!! Nicely sketched. I don't have a "garden." Once it is warm enough I do flower boxes along the railing of my patio, so for now I'll have to find things related to gardening. lol
ReplyDeleteI love that you know their names. Very nice sketch. We have Jasmine as well, ours has white flowers. Nice job. Love the botanical names and I know one, Rosmarinus Officinalis for of course Rosemary.:) Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI really like your gardeners journal style even if you are not a gardener. My yard is the same, swampy but am thankful we have rain.
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of Jasmine! And orange blossoms. We have those right now, too. Very fragrant. Your drawings are so delicate.
ReplyDeleteI wish we have many flowers in our garden like yours Melisa. It's funny that they grow on their own and even flourish! Your work is wonderful!
