This was actually the first drawing I did at the Academy of Sciences museum in San Francisco last Saturday. It was a diorama of Sable Antelope from Africa. I drew in Copic multiliner black pen 0.3. And I colored it in using both Copic markers and Tom Bow brush pens. It was quite a challenge drawing around the tourists coming thorough the museum and posing for photos in front of the displays. But in time they went on through and I had some alone time with the antelope.

Makes me wish I was near a museum of natural history! What a great drawing opportunity! Love this, Lynn!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa. Yes it was a fun experience to draw there. An idea I was given at Sketchbook Skool. The six week class I took from six different amazing teachers. Ends tomorrow, but I am signed up for the next semester starting in July. This first semester is to be repeated if anyone is interested.
Deletenice page Lynn- I love how you drew in a little map of the country :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, yes the map was on the wall next to the diorama. So it got into my painting.
DeleteBeautiful antelopes, Lynn!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sirkka!
DeleteThis is excellent Lynn. Must have felt like you were actually seeing these animals in their true setting....I love the word diorama btw :-)
ReplyDeleteI like that word too Ann! Has a certain ring to it doesn't it? Yes, I was in African Hall, but after sitting for a while I could have been in the wild.
DeleteExcellent antelopes Lynn. Great color as well. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gloria, glad you like my bright colors!
DeleteGreat skating. Love the rich colors in this!! How do you like using the new materials from your classes?
ReplyDeleteI am loving it Joan. I enjoy my brush pens like never before, and the colored pencils too, although I have not yet mastered how they are really to be used. I will keep going with these classes. They are so much fun and the group of artists are amazing to watch. (students as well as the teachers!)
Deletegreat job on the antelopes lynn! they look real!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elisa. That's quite the compliment!
DeleteYou did some terrific drawings at the museum, and so many. What energy you have as well as artistic skill. This one is great, and so colourful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jez! I did take my time there. Another artist friend did many more in the same time frame, but I sat longer at my three stations I chose to draw. It was a fun time.
