A quick sketch of a duck
just added the blue to indicate the shadow side
Why is it that the quick sketches turn out okay,
the ones I labour over turn out so wrong!!! lol

He's a sweet duck, Ann. And your shadows look perfect to me. BTW another thing I learned in SBS is that there are no mistakes in art, that one should push on and the so called "mistakes" will turn into something very doable in the end. With that kind of attitude we can't help but succeed!
ReplyDeleteYes, happy mistakes as Bob Ross would have said :-)
Deleteit's a lovely sketch and that shadowing makes a big difference-something I need to really learn about.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, it was a spontaneous shadow, just went with gut instinct :-)
DeleteThe duck is sweet, looks natural.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sirkka :-)
DeleteShadowing is something I need to learn about as well. This is a great job Ann. I once had a duck that looked just like this one.:)
ReplyDeleteAww, lucky you Gloria, I love these ducks.
DeleteWonderful job on him, Ann!! It is funny that sometimes a quick sketch works so well and when we sweat over something it just doesn't.
ReplyDeleteSweet!
ReplyDeleteAnn your question inspires me to write .. lol.. anyway i really like your quick sketch especially the shadows! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan, Arnoldo, and Elisa :-)
ReplyDeleteI think he's a perfect duck Anne, waddling along like that, to living. Quick sketches where the re is no time to think and criticise are always so much more lively like this one. Like the shadow.
ReplyDeleteoh love how you just sketch so little and it comes alive as a wee little character. Your very good Ann..
ReplyDeleteGood job. Looks like one that visits us now and then.. It was quick so your brain didn't have time to over work it. :)
