Today we went shopping for books (husband got a book and while he did I went into the cafe at Powell Books and drew the folks gathered there. From the book store we went to Dick Blicks where I went just a little bit crazy shopping for art supplies.
I wanted a travel pen/pencil holder and found this nice cloth one by Niji for under $5.00 I kid you not. It holds an entire set of my Prismacolored pencils with room to spare for a few pens! It rolls up and snaps closed. Will not take up much room in backpack or suitcase.
I also purchased a 14 bottle set (15oz each) of Dr PH Martin concentrated liquid watercolors. The kind Danny Gregory used in his "Breakfast" drawing video. The colors are especially vibrant and perfect for art journals where they won't fade over time, as they might exposed to light.
I also got a set of 12 Faber-Castell brush pens. I used them and my colored pencils in these two sketches.
Oh, and I bought my first ever Moleskin drawing books, one for watercolor and one for sketching. I'm excited to start filling them up.
Needless to say this part of my daily life that adds to my drawing part was a lot of fun! Now off to draw and use some of my new tools.
great drawing!

DeleteMmm...a shopping trip to Dick Blick's sounds good. Sounds like you bought a lot of great materials. Love the cafe sketch...people are usually so nice about sitting pretty still there...or at least until their coffee is gone.
ReplyDeleteMost of these stayed as long as I needed them too.
